I don't know about you but tracking cases in Summation for me is a huge pain.
Not only do I have multiple offices with their own Summation installs, each with their own list of cases
but I also have multiple image stores for each of those offices. This isn't Unix/Linux, unless you have a SAN
you cant just add storage space to a share. Each of those offices has 4 sometimes 5 IMAGES shares.
Keeping track of that, plus staying on top of when a case was last used (to clean up old cases) and
what users I need to contact regarding archiving that case, makes for a very un-fun aspect of this
job.
Enter The Summation Cases Report Tool:
This program will give you a report of all of your cases, which you can run against all of your office
Summation install points and will give you a report consisting of properties like:
- Images directory location for each of your cases
- Date the case was last used
- The user name of the person that created the case
- A list of all people that use this case
- As well as the user name of the person that last used the case, etc.
- And I'm hoping to add more to this list as time goes on
Also, if you have items that you would like to add to this list, please let me know
Finally, this program will create this list as an HTML file for easy viewing or CSV for Excel import
and sorting. I personally have a folder in our knowledge base for every office in which I have both the HTML and spreadsheet
report for viewing by my teammates. I then update the reports 2 or 3 times a month.
Usage:
- Download the zip file from the link below and unzip it to a directory of your choice.
- Select your Cases directory and output directory where it will save your report.
- Select your formatting preference:
- HTML - Looks best but not sort-able.
- CSV - For sorting or importing into a spreadsheet.
It will also remember your past Cases locations so that subsequent reports are easier to create if, like me, you have multiple case locations and Summation servers
- Select the History tab and double click on any of your past "Profiles"
All bugs and comments should go to the email
address on the about tab.
